Ok, I admit it, I was wrong to move from FD to A&L . A&L's service is atrocious, it's taken them nearly 2 months to get around to saying that they are now going to speak to FD in order to get my DD's moved over!!!. - lesson learned!
That's not to say that FD still have my custom long term. I will be monitoring the thread in this forum to learn from the experience of others.

I've just changed from FD to A and L and so far mine has been quite smooth, my standing orders have transferred over, though not sure about my DDs as they're not due out yet, I've left enough in FD to cover them if neccessary.
Sorry to hear you haven't been as fortunate...0 -
To be honest I think it's the same problem with all banks - some people are going to experience good customer service and others aren't. My brother had a problem transferring his wages over to his new A&L bank account and in the end just got it transferred himself through his work but both my mum and myself had masses of dd's and standing orders to be transferred over and it was done super quick and totally smoothly for us so there's no way to say that A&L have brilliant customer service or that they have atrocious customer service. I guess it's all a matter of luck on who you get dealing with your situation. Sorry it went badly for you.

Does moving bank accounts affect your credit in any way? If not, what is the reason for you all moving to a + l?0

The £50 refer a friend, 6.1% current or 12% regular saver account, 0% matched overdraft for a year...0

FD have been investigating charging £10 per month for an account with them (discounted according to the number of their products that you use). Also savings rates are dire! but customer service excellent!!!.There's always someone bigger and better, smarter and stronger but there's only one YOU!:j0 -
I have gone into my A&L authorised overdraft for the first time last month, it's on this month's statement, £5 charge Ok, so I expect to pay interest, all of 16p, but an overdraft charge  I'm regretting opening an account with them now. Also you have to phone them to make changes to some types of accounts, they won't do it at the counter in the bank!0

I'm sure that this is going to turn into a Monty Python sketch any minute. A&L have been given a reprieve, not because they’ve done anything, it’s down to the complete waste of my time trying to pay money IN at an HSBC branch!!.
The HSBC branch I use (the only one in town) has kicked out the deposit box system and it’s cashiers and replaced them with ‘express’ tills which count your money and another set for cheques. As a result the money and cheques that I need to deposit, which would normally take 2 minutes, has so far taken me 2 trips of 25 minutes each, just to pay the cash in! (I’m going back today for the cheques).
The main problem is that for the majority of customers the new machines are quite daunting and when English isn’t their first language then they virtually have no chance of completing what they want to do. Also whoever did the queuing analysis needs to be fired as there’s simply not enough ‘express’ tills.
I know HSBC want to save 10% a year in admin costs but this is ridiculous. Out of the £2.5bn annual IT spend a few extra tills will not even be noticed, except by their customers!:rolleyes:There's always someone bigger and better, smarter and stronger but there's only one YOU!:j0 -
I agree with u.. HSBC is totally crap at paying money in!!!
they have these new machines..but you have to put ur hand into the "open and close" metal shutters..is it me or isn't that dangerous..(ur hand getting trapped inside)..and don't tell me..that machines don't malfunction!!!
why not have a machine that sucks in the money..(like the slot where the card goes in)..and it reads how much is inserted..(much safer)
if there is any ppl here working for HSBC.. just to let u guys know..i've wrote a feedback for them twice..but don't think their listening..i'm sure that they are waiting for someone to have their hands cut off first before they change their minds..
and the other times, the machine just doesn't work!!
for me..A&L are alright, i switched and have no problems with them at all..:dance:smile everyday...cos its free
Live everyday to the Full..cos there is no tomorrow:dance:0 -
Yes I've done it! after 3 days of trying I've managed to pay in both notes and cheques at the HSBC branch (there was only 1 'express' cheque pay-in machine working today as well)There's always someone bigger and better, smarter and stronger but there's only one YOU!:j0
