if you don't get the grade you want, just go to court! (although there may be more to this case, it's a genuinely scary move for universities - maybe we should get rid of thirds and give out 2:1 certificates instead of a receipt for fees?)

Oh my. Whilst it can't be fun having a lot of graduate schemes closed because of a 2.2, a graduate scheme isn't the be all and end all. Most graduates do not get on them and there are still lots of avenues open.
I know in my department if you have supervision problems it is usually possible to swap to someone else, although that person may not have specific knowledge of your topic. There are also proper channels to go through for appeals and the like. He hasn't really done himself any favours here.0 -
I don't really understand how they blamed their supervisor though? :undecided I did my undergraduate degree at Queen's and I only had an advisor of studies who helped me to pick modules etc., the work was up to me. If you are struggling then surely you have to seek out help yourself?
I hope this doesn't set a precedent for the future...otherwise I worked (reasonably) hard for no reason
