No, it's not that simple, they don't just appoint anyone who volunteers. There are already three BG's, more than most boards have. If they don't have time/ can't be bothered to do it, maybe they should let the MSE Team know?
I agree, and that isn't taking into account the times that this subject has been raised before either.
It may not be that simple but it cannot be very hard either, maybe someone with over 24000 posts who must have lots of time on their hands could volunteer;).
There could be any number of reasons why they havent been moderating and of course it isnt the crime of the century
Just to add that someone has been on here deleting posts as there was a post about a deal on groupon about a classic car yesterday, all be it posted 3 times by the same person on various threads but it was a genuine deal.. it has gone0 -

I wouldn't want to be a BG, I post far less than I used to and would not commit to something that I could not fulfil ... unlike others. The BG's have all been online, which would imply they are choosing not to fulfil their role.
I remember the classic car offer, it was spam - chances are someone reported it and so it was Abuse that deleted the posts, not a BG.Gone ... or have I?0 -

How do you define spam? It was a genuine offer0 -
you'll be getting told off now. please only post about spam on here if you've found it at a bargain price - otherwise please desist!0
