Prescription pre-payment problem

I get a 12 month PPC as I take a lot of medication, I ordered it online and pay by DD each month. About a month before its due to expire they send me a letter asking if I want to renew, I just tick the box, send the letter back and a new card arrives in 10 days or so. I didn't even know you could buy them in a pharmacy!**Trying my best to be the best that I can**

Both replying to their letter asking you to renew and paying by DD can be fairly poor moneysaving ways to get prescriptions.
I get regular prescriptions, one per month. If I buy my PPC with the first script and ask for script 4 a few days early I can fit 4 in to the validity of a three-month PPC. That way I only need to buy three 3-month PPCs per year at a total cost of £84.75 rather than £104 for the 12-month one or even worse £113 if you just renew your old one as soon as it runs out.
This doesn't always work out - if you get regular 'random' prescriptions that may fall in to the month-gaps between certificates then you can end up paying more but in general it works. In my case I can save more as the only medicine I'm prescribed that only lasts me a month is an antihistamine which I can buy very cheap online so I can often stretch three PPCs to cover 13-14 months.0
