Used Brasso on non-brass taps - help please!

Options
I successfully used a 2p piece to scrape away thick limescale on my "brass" bathroom taps, then thought I'd give them a good clean with Brasso. Alas, I am now left with patchy silver taps.

What sort of paint, or any other treatment, could anyone recommend please, so that they look better.

Thank you.

xx

  • Sounds like you've removed the plating - it looks like you need some new taps.......

maninthestreet is right. It sounds like they were only flash plated. If they are expensive taps, then buy some cheap taps to use as a temporary fix, then dismantle yours and take them dow to your local electroplating shop to get them stripped, and then brass plated with a thicker layer.

Guys they are not brass plated but GOLD plated. They are totally beggered.

With the price of gold as it is, prob best to rethink the bathroom and change all to chrome.

    Sorry! :A

If they are gold plated, then it would be flash gold plated. This just deposits a very thin layer.

Flash gold plating isn't that expensive, but if you want a thicker coating that will last, then I would suggest brass plating.
