shop around - solicitors vary. Many charge on a sliding scale- the more the house costs, the higher their fee.
  • Clutton is right. Solicitors conveyancing costs differ wildly. Dont forget to add VAT to that figure. But, £450 + VAT does seem quite good.

There is not a lot of work in this one,how many hours for £450 ,a few more quotes is required ,phone calls, simply ,15 minutes work, some companies just do conveyancing,I am sure you will beat that, knock £50 off and quote that when you telephone them.Let us know how you go on,you are in a win win situation, never be complacent about one quote. When you invoke competition you do every-one a favour, with the exception of the expensive, who make a lot of money in the house market.

Why should the price be relative to the sale price ,how does that effect the work involved £80000 or £130000,why a sliding scale.

The same goes for all the industry estate agents ,brokers, how does the sale price effect the work involved, they just want a slice of your cake
