MP3 Problem

An album which I downloaded sounds all crackly on my daughters mp3 player.
The only difference I can see from other tracks that work ok is that the compression ratio and bitrate are higher on the album that does not work.
The compression of the tracks that don't work is 4 to 1, bitrate 320: compression of tracks that do work is 7 to 1 bitrate 192
Could this be the problem and if so is there anything I can do about it??

My car radio will not play mp3s higher than 256, you just need to lower the bitrate.

This prog is supposed to work, I have not tried it, but it should be able to lower the bitrate. http://electronic-cosmos-mpeg-suite.uptodown.com/en/

Thanks for your reply but a trojan was detected by my antivirus when trying to download the program. In addition the terminology in the program is totally over my head, I am a complete novice with this music downloading business.
