Is there an application for this?

Just set up a HTPC, previously had a WDTV so had all my files matched with icons for that.

Ran mediascout to get the metadata for a few TV shows and it renamed a whole heap of stuff, not something I was expecting, but my fault for not reading up properly.

So now I have about 800gig of files with jpegs that no longer match the file, which means the icons wont show. Obviously I don't want to sit there renaming them 1 by 1, so was wondering if anyone knew of any program that will name the jpegs in a file after the avi/mkv in the file?

Long shot I know, but figured it's worth a try before I spend days renaming.

Thanks.
Sigless

Do you mean you just want to change the extension?

If so you can do it from the command prompt

    eg

    ren *.jpg *.flv

I think he means something similar to what my MythTV together with Jamu can do. If you have your videos named like "Top Gear S07E12.mkv" then the grabber script (Jamu in my case) will pull the description and a thumbnail from tv.com, thetvdb.com or similar websites. It's a really cool thing.

@OP: How are the files named now? Can't you just run the grabber script again?

No, previously I had my TV eps set up in folders, like 'Doctor Who\Series 01\01x01' and I'd have a jpeg in the folder named '01x01' to match the episode. That'd show up on the WDTV and all was good.

Now I have something like this 'Doctor Who\Series 01\episode title'

So the jpegs no longer correlate to the episodes, I was hoping there might be some program that allows me to batch rename jpegs to match the new avi/mkv titles.
