Home made Conservatory Roof Covering Help

I would like to make my conservatory a little warmer for the coming winter months (as much as is possible in a conservatory).
I have had a few quotes from companies for roof blinds and they are really expensive so I was thinking I can use a sewing machine so perhaps I could make something.
I would like any advice or tips on design....I have a Victorian Style Conservatory with 15 separate roof panels but I am thinking I could probably have 7 or 8 sections of fabric to cover.
Any advice on what type of material....something that wouldnt make it dark but could provide some insulation?
Also the best stuff to fix the blinds up with... I have heard mention of copper pipes & clips used deck-chair style but not keen on drilling holes into the pvc and also velcro, but dont know if this would hold??
Thanks,

Why section it off, no matter how good the blinds are they will seal in very little warmth. You could buy COREX 5mm thick corrugated plastic as used for 'House For Sale' signs. Plastics companies sell for £10 a 10x5 sheet. Opaque or coloured sheet can be cut to size and doublke sided taped to each panel. Or just make a ceiling across the lot. Use 2 x 1 wood laths. and thick curtain material.0

We have a 5x4m conservatory with a polycarbonate roof. Earlier this year I bought a huge roll of blackout lining off ebay and loads of velcro. I sewed 4 lengths of the blackout lining together and edged it with velcro, then we glued the other side of the velcro to the uPVC between the top of the windows and the roof and stuck the fabric up there. It looks awesome, doesn't take any light away and it keeps some heat in. Good luck with it. x x0

Any tips? our conservatory is Edwardian 5m x 4m and I visualise draping fabrics from the roof, but not sure how to start or how to do it0
