AA Membership renewal.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

My wife and I have belonged to the AA for many years and have always been pleased with the service. Last year we considered changing to the RAC as it was cheaper, but the AA matched the price when we said we were leaving.

We have just had a renewal notice telling us that the cost this year would be £200. Looking online we found that if you can join for only £121. My wife phoned them and said we wanted to cancel because it was too expensive, and they immediately dropped the price to the £121 online price. Whatever happened to looking after your existing customers ? And how many people will just accept the price ? She cancelled the policy and we'll shop around.

    It's an insurance policy.
I don't anyone can name one insurance that is cheaper to renew than it is just to take out a new policy.
  • My AA cost £30 last year plus £7 to add my wife. This year they wanted over £112, needless to say I didn't renew.
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • I've been searching and it looks as if the AA when combined with Top Cashback is the cheapest for the cover we need (2 cars, home start, roadside and relay). Nets down to £71. But I'm still looking !

If you've got Tesco Clubcard points, then the RAC can be a good bargain.

Just wanted to point this out:

Check that you're not paying more as the bank account fee than you would for buying the benefits elsewhere/separately :)

I get more than just breakdown cover though. Mobile phone insurance, travel insurance and various other discounts.
