Best temporary car insurers

Hi my car insurance runs out a week today and I just want to insure it for 2 weeks as it's likely I'm going abroad to do some travelling so don't want to set up my new yearly insurance till I get back.

Anyone got any reccommendations for the best temporary insurer?

Cheers

The cheapest for 2 weeks will be to take out a new 12 month policy with a 14 day cooling off period, then cancel it. You will find policies that give you a full refund of the premium, though usually charge an admin fee. The downside is that if you make a claim during the 14 days, then the policy has to be paid in full.

So what if it is stolen or catches fire when you are away? Where will you be storing the car when you are away ? If it parked on a public road, you will need to keep it Insured.

I would suggest that you think about whether you should cover the car fully for the 2 weeks and then be able to reduce the cover, whilst it is not in use. Contact a decent local broker (not Swintons) for advice and they will tell you what options are available to you.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I've always found our local Swintons very good, and at times even the best of ours, so it seems a bit pointless not contacting them as well.
