seller cancelled my bid for no reason.

Hi,
I placed a bid on a whistles dress last night. This morning the seller cancelled my bid for no reason.
He or she had put the reason down to me being barred. I have never delat with them before.
I placed another bid this morning and I haven't been blocked.
their behaviour has aroused my suspicions because all their listings start a 1p with very high postage (That's ok with me) BUT they only have private suctions so there's no way of seeing what their past auctions sold nor who has placed a bid on their stuff.
Am I right to be sus?

Same happened to me a few months ago. The auction was by a relative newbe and he cancelled my bid and those of others. He explained that he wanted at least £4.99 for the item not the £1.50 I had bid.

Decided not to report to ebay this time, but instead emailed him to say he should read the rules of the auction. Next time I will report.

Not sure if that helps, but I'd report the seller to ebay!

Hi go into Goofbay and look him up, just put Goofbay in the google search and you can look into anything you want. Good luck. By the way I hate people who put 1p on their items they want to avoid paying ebay fees that we all pay !!!

    !

Definitely a TSFE (Too stupid for ebay) seller and best avoided! If he wants £4.99 then he'll need the lower earlier bid to start him off as with a basic minimum bid of £1 it won't matter what that initial bidder puts in, you could have a £1000 proxy , but until a second bidder enters the auction the basic bid only will show.

  • Private auctions are reason enough to be suss. (Unless the item is something embarrassing :))

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I agree, all her listings are private auctions and they're just women's clothing
