Hi all,
Can someone just clarify for me:
To be eligible to recieve Working Tax Credit, if you are in a couple (i.e. living together or married) do both people have to be working to get it?
So for example if the husband worked 40 hours a week and the wife not at all, would they get anything?
I know for the Childcare element of WTC, both partners must work at leat 16hrs per wk to be elibigle so was wondering if it was the same?
Thank You

only one has to be working. but they must be over 25, and if they have no children they need to work at least 30 hours a week. if there are children its 16 hours.0

I have a similar query to yours OP;
My mum has 2 jobs £15k + £12k working 70 hrs p/w (combined)
My dad isn't at work due to serious gout complications, but doesn't claim any benefits either
Would my folks be entitled to any help?
How is WTC worked out if working 2 jobs and random hrs (40 hrs this week, maybe 70hrs the following week!)?
Checked entitledto.com and entitlement figure was 0.00:mad:
ps: don't mean to hijack your thread:p

We received a very small amount of working tax credit last year and only my husband has worked for the past couple of years, so only 1 person in the couple must be working 16 hours or more.
Tupac, your Mother's earnings are over the limit for working tax credit which is approx £16,000 a year (combined for a couple).August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
On £27k per year they wouldn't be entitled to any WTC, entitledto is correct.I have a similar query to yours OP;

The limit for a couple with no children is approx £18K a year.
And then it would only be approx £90 a year.
