New baby with Down's - any help re benifits?

Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter.
When I was a foster carer I had a lovely little girl with downs.
We had her for the first 9 months of her life.
She was totally adorable - no other health issues and
the easiest baby I have ever had!
I had to wake her up to feed her at night when she was tiny!
Her only extra needs were her physio regime to music that we did every night and working just that bit harder to stimulate her towards her milestones.
We didn't claim DLA for her.
The people who adopted her eventually were able to claim because she needed extra supervision
as she got older and mobility issues.

There will be many questions as she gets older and these people will be able to answer from personal experience.0 -
No advice in the financial side, but just wanted to say congratulations. I have, in the past, occassionally worked with teenagers with Downs Syndrome, and have met some of the most amazing, bright, warm, generous, ambitious and funny teenagers. As with most young people, it is often easy to recognise the ones who have had good parenting, and been exposed to a wide range of experiences - and some of the DS teenagers I have known have had social and conversational skills which were far better than many of their supposedly 'normal' peers. They certainly blew any preconceptions I may have had out of the water! Congratulations on your baby, I bet she is a little sweetie.0
