E.on and moving

To E.on rep.

I am currently on FixOnline8 but I am thinking of moving but the house I am thinking of moving to is with someone else so I will have to sign up with them first.

So will I have to pay the leaving penalty or will it be waived when I eventually switch back to E.on and will I still be able to keep FixOnline8 if it is cheaper than any other tariff?

  • Contact e.on's home moves department and let them know. They will sort it out and explain the details for you, as far as cheapest tariff look into saveonline v3. usually the cheapest although it not a fixed/capped price tariff.

A friend of mine is moving and she is with E.on FixOnline8 as well, and the house she is moving to is with Npower, who she used to be with before and hates because of them increasing her DD to more than double what she was using.

I don't suppose she could change from Npower to Eon the day she moves in? She did mention to the vendors about them changing to E.on before they left but they basically said with all the hassle of moving that's not one of their priorities.

You can keep the same tarriff when moving house and you will NOT pay the leaving penalty as you cannnot help who your new property is initially supplied by when you move into a house. The Change of Supply process takes approx 28 days so, as you are probably aware, you would get a bill from the inherited supplier for that time. You can keep the same tarriff (if it has not expired) or can move to any other tarriff.

    Hi freddi,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Some good info on here already :T

The best thing to do is to contact E.ON when you move, this means they will be able to close your account for your old address and start the ball rolling to change the supply to the new house.

You will need to provide your meter readings for the old house and make sure you request that the new house remains on your current tariff.

advantix is correct, it takes around 4-6 weeks to change supplier, so you will also need to contact the current supplier of the new house and give them the readings so they can bill you accurately until the change over is complete.

Suppliers won't start the change of supply process until you are responsible for the property, this is just in case something changes and you don't move.

Good luck with the move :)

    Helena :)
