Shouldn't Quartz be cheaper than Granite?

We got some quotes at the weekend and I was surprised to find that the black sparkly quartz came out the same price as star galaxy granite. I thought quartz was generally a bit cheaper?
Is there a better brand of quartz to go for and can anyone recommend a company in Essex?
Thanks

Quartz comes in a similar cost to Star Galaxy granite, sometimes slightly less. Only a year or so ago it would have been 30%-40% more expensive, the price has come down as availablity of non branded material has increased.
If you want a branded product such as Silestone, don't be surprised to find that 50% more expensive than Star Galaxy granite.
Compared to some of the more abundant granites, such as Black Pearl or Steel Grey you'll find Quartz more expensive.0 -
Hi I am looking for Star Galaxy granite or quartz floor tiles and wanted bigger size like 600 x 600 mm with 12 mm thickness as it is going on underfloor heating & the samples look better. What sort of prize should I be paying and where can I get it at these prizes? I tried walls & tiles who had granite galaxy for like £43 something but they don't have it in stock. I live in essex. Also I've been told that in the long run quartz is not suitable for underfloor heating.0

I used Granite Direct Ltd in Enfield for my quartz worktop. They did a very good job.0
