My wife has three horses she wants to ensure just for basic cover, public liability and vet fees, each one will have a worth of £500, do you know the best place to go and get a quote.

Thanks

Maybe an ensurance broker... but if you look for an insurance broker and you might find what you are looking for.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • If you want the best cover than I would go for petplan equine. They are not the cheapest but in my experience they are best for equine insurance. Be careful when you are getting quotations, without naming names there are quite a few companies I would not recommend! Petplan Equine are a decent company and the policy is underwritten by Allianz.

We use NFU and they seem to be o.k. Remember the cost of the cover will also depend on the level of excess you take, the age of the horse, what it is used for, the level of excess, the amount of vet's fees etc. etc.

People also should not recommend insurers as "the best". The insurer is best suited to their own personal circumstances, but this may not be what is best for you. If your wife is horsey, then you may wish to look in the horse and hound forum as there will be loads of insurance info on there and personal experience of lots of individuals as to who pays etc.

I have recently had a quote from Petplan for my 4 cats which came out at just over £40 per month. Superior cover purchased from Axa (higher limit of vet's fees) was less than half the price. So it pays to shop around and read the wordings so you know what you are covered for. If anything is unclear ask the Company what you want to know and get them to reply in writing.

NFU are widely regarded as the best, although not the cheapest. I have used them for 4 years.

Do NOT go with E & L, that's the only company I would advise to steer well clear of. Warnings about them all over the internet and horse forums.
