Me and my girlfriend are off on a P & O cruise to Amsterdam in November , just wondering if anyone knew a nice cheap hotel that was in the heart of the city? or any deals on a hotel ?

Sorry ! there are no cheap hotels in Amsterdam especially the centre ! The cheapish ones are rubbish , steep steps , noisy and usually full of backpackers !
Pay the most you can afford it will be for the best !
Hotels we have used in the past and can reccomend ..........
SAS Plaza
any of the Golden Tulip chain , consider the airport one , loads of connection to amsterdam 24 hrs a day !
Hilton
Ibis , at a pinch
Avoid the hotels on the Damrak ! overpriced and small rooms !
Hope you enjoy your trip , its a fasinating city !A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !

Don't give up easily. You'll have a great time there. (Admittedly ages ago) we went to central Amsterdam and found a cheap compact room in Hotel Singel (pronounced shingle) on a central canal - here's its website; http://singelhotel.nl/welcome/ Check up on it at tripadvisor (it's colourful, being near the red light area but is/was perfectly safe). Also try the Orange Smile website's search engine at http://www.orangesmile.com/booking/en/netherlands/amsterdam.htm.
Gave us a good hotel in Brussels and also in Cologne too.
In Amsterdam watch out for bagsnatchers in restaurants- don't let your bag out of your sight on the floor! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
