BritGas....

After my february nightmare and my battle to get any sense out of BG, they decided my KW useage was 19,000 (combined 1+2+3) and that ive to pay £175 PCM to clear the outstanding and incoming bills

my balance now is £200, next payment due next week as is my next reading and bill (now quartely)

that will leave me a £25 balance

i am now totally economy 7 where i can be, i am monitoring all meter readings, i have put all 4 NSRs on for a test running

1 interesting point is my 09 bills....

my night rate consumption:-

1.september-october - 20kw/night
2.october- december - 16kw/night
3.december-february - 61 kw/night
4.february - march - 28 kw/night

as our NSRs were on in both periods 2 and 4, what the hell cost FORTY KW per night extra?, remember this was the NIGHT RATE only

with a wash cycle, a tank of hot water it runs at 3kw/night and each NSR seems to take 7kw, but they were on in oct/dec and feb/march

what id like to know is, as my next bill will be £65 (1/4) and i am paying a DDM of £175 PCM (with a nil balance), can get BG to adjust the DDM?

December to February was the coldest part of the year, presumably your NSR's were taking on more charge?
BG will want you to build up credit on your account prior to the heating season.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • it wasnt even all of feb, the "high" useage was only 25/12-8/2, the graph will look amazing.....

and im not pre-paying for leccy, times are hard enough

Unfortunately I doubt that British gas will see it that way.

  • heres the wierd one

2 days in feb, day useage - 35kw - fair enough

night useage - nil........but the heating, immersion and 2 fridges plus a freezeer were on.....

If you pay by DD then ALL the utility companies expect you to build up a credit ready for the Winter months. If you don't want to play the game this way then you can choose a different tariff that doesn't entitle you to the discounts for paying by DD.

The most logical explanation was that the December bill was based on an under-estimated bill and the February bill was a 'catch-up' bill.

e.g. you might have been billed for, say, 1,000 kWh too little in December because of an estimated reading. So your February bill would be for your actual consumption plus the 1,000 kWh .

all the bills had meter readings (after starting out as estimated)

the 3 NSRs we have are 3.5kw (as best i can tell) so thats 10.5kw/hour (70KW/night) MAXIMUM ....BUT our timeswitch was US and the NSRs were certainly on at 5pm between oct and feb, a fact i failed to spot till about late march (and the £777/6 month bill), quite when they were going OFF is anyones guess, im not even looking at the COST at the moment, just the relative consumptions - old timeswitch day:night and new timeswitch day:night, i suspect the NSR circuit was live from 5pm to the end of E7 - half of it on peak rate

BGas had the timeswitch replaced without asking that it be inspected/checked but virtually admitted they were wrong by handing out a £50 discount (peanuts to them i know) then telling me to contact onstream.......who blamed BGas

    time will tell i suppose

i can collapse the DDM. go monthly billed and pay that, i may lose the DDM discount but will only pay for what ive used, not what i MAY use
