Any suggestions on good basic software to track performance of investments?
I have a portfolio of unit trusts, ETFs etc, and want (a) automatic updating of prices, and (b) basic tools to see the percentage of the portfolio comprised of particular investments, and (c) simple performance information. I do not need anything very complex, and do not want to spend a lot of time inputting data etc.
Any ideas as to something simple and efficient would be gratefully received!? (Either free software or something you pay for).
Thanks

I use Trustnet (Financial Express) to list all my deposits, shares etc. It does not cost anything and I like them because, if there is ever a discrepancy between their figures and Hargreaves Lansdown they are very good at sorting it out and telling me why.
I have a list with HL because I bought funds and Investment Trusts through them.
iii also offer a portfolio service as does the FT as far as I know.0 -
Very helpful - I'll check it out. Any other suggestions?0

I personally use Interactive Investor (iii) Portfolio tool. As yet, I have not found a sungle share/fund/OEIC etc. that is not on it. I have several portfolios set up (e.g. to track what 'might have been'!).
It updates roughly 9:15 p.m. every evening. Of course it's free, and so I am perfectly happy with it. My only 'gripe' would be that they don't offer a facility to download it to Excel etc. But I can do this manually by (a) selecting the whole grid, and 'copy', (b) go to Excel and 'paste', then (c) 'copy' the whole lot still highlighted, and (d) do 'paste special'/'values' onto another worksheet.
The end product is a set of numbers etc. that can be manipulated.0 -

There are many companies offering use of their free software to track your investments. Those that come to mind are Moneyextra, Citywire, Trustnet etc. Look at the websites and go for the one that suits your needs. Most of them follow the same pattern but in a different format.
For shares ONLY you can set up a watch list on Livecharts.co.uk. You monitor the list of shares u want to buy or own.
I hope this helps0 -
FWIW Trustnet offers you the option of downloading your portfolio as an Excel file, and I find it's generally updated by 5pm.
Yes, I had a look at Trustnet. Good points: Updated earlier, can scrape it down by spreadsheet. Bad points: Updating seems gradual, fund by fund, so difficult to know when 'finished' for the day. Also, it can't seem to tolerate both a purchase date and a purchase cost. If I put in a date, it uses its own calculation of cost - but God knows how they know what charges you paid.
On balance, I personally still prefer iii, but just try a few, and see what 'floats your boat'!0 -
