Kenwood Chef help needed

Hello

Is this the right place for a broken Kenwood Chef? Tonight it stopped with smelly smokey smell - does this sound terminal? Are these things easy to fix or am I risking divorce if I ask OH to have a look at it?!

Cheers

All parts of a Kenwood Chef can be fixed, probably a resistor or capacitor.

Don't know who OH is (Ohio, or Sadaharu Oh the baseball player?) but I am sure they could fix it. Edit- took me 24 hours....Other half

    p.s. Check the fuse ;)

My A701 Glass liquidiser is turning everything grey!! Any liquid I blend in it turns metallic colour!

Does anyone know what's happpening? More importantly, how can I solve it?

  • You havn't put any of the parts in a dishwasher have you? I put my k beater and dough hook in the dishwasher, not realizing and they went really weird..it reminded me of when you clean brass and all the grey stuff comes off on your cloth. It took me ages to wash them and polish them back up. Just wondering if this is whats happened. I think it has something to do with the salt in the dishwasher, although i stand to be corrected.

Anything made of aluminium turns a strange colour when washed in a dishwasher.

It is the powder or tablets that you use.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Please may I revive this thread and ask 2 questions?

    1. When I use the shredder (not the high speed one) the veg get jammed in the drum. What am I doing wrong?

    2. I remember seeing once an attachment that fits where the blender usually goes. It has a base like the blender but an upside down glass that screws on top. It minces nuts/herbs etc...does anyone know what this is called, I can't seem to find it and would like to buy one.
UPDATE: found it! It's the multi mill.
Question 2b. do you think the multimill top will screw on to my 700 series blender base?

    Many thanks!

I've just (this afternoon) bought a Kenwood chef 901 from an advert in the paper. The lady showed me it working before I picked it up, and showed me how to fix in the k beater etc. She pressed the button on the side to lift the mixer head up first - well, I've done this and can't get it to lock down again (it just keeps bobbing up every time I push it down). The mixer is working, but I have to hold the head down, which isn't ideal. I can't find a manual for it online - I've found one for the KM310 but the head lock on that model is a lever rather than a knob on that one so it doesn't help. Anyone with a 901 had this problem? Or is there a special knack to doing this that I'm missing?
I've been coveting one of these for ages, and really want to get cracking with it - I've got the whisk, K beater, dough hook and mincer...

Problem now sorted - some creative twidling and it now locks down. Ooo-er missus (or something!)
