Changing channels

I have discussed elements of changing channels on wireless routers before, but I have had some really odd experiences over the last two days. Yesterday evening, neither of the two computers on the wireless network could download anything from the internet. I tried several things, but in the end the only way to get everything working correctly again was to change channels. Thereafter, everything worked speedily. It happened again this evening, this time on a completely different channel, so we switched again and once again got back instant speed.
Would anybody like to speculate on why this is happening? I can't see that the router is at fault. Do you think my neighbours' wireless networks are at fault? But what would they be doing to completely clog downloads? Is it possible that they are downloading so much stuff that a particular wireless channel is useless? If so, why does their computer win out over mine?

without knowing your router, perhaps you need to change chanel and better security do a search on your particular problem in google, it sounds like interference and perhaps you need to look at your routers security settings
