hi, does anyone here go to car auctions, or in the motor trade please?

i bought my last car 4 years ago from an auction and have had no trouble with it. it was a company car with fsh.

time to change now and im thinking of a toyota auris 1.6 vvti, or 2.0 diesel?? looking at an 07/08 reg. or a golf tdi 04/05 reg.
what are they going for at auction please?

any other tips are appreciated.

Allan, I used to go to auctions regularly, and have just started going again. I would take around £1500 off the dealer book price for the Auris, but watch the Golf, because they can go mad, depending on who is bidding for them. If it is largely a trade auction then things should be predictable, but once the general public start going in numbers, then things can get a bit hectic, because "bidding wars" will be the order of the day.
Get there early, or even pick up a catalogue the day before, and research the cars you are interested in. Be there when they are started up, and look underneath the bonnet, in the boot, and the dashboard for warning lights.

    Auris 1.6vvti older 07 £5500 with 22K, younger 07 £5800 with 25K (miles) <<< actual prices
Auris 1.6 vvti older 08 with 45K should go for about £5400 <<< estimate

    auris 2.0 diesel
    T SPIRIT mid 07 41K £6350 actual prices
    TR older 07 60K £5800 actual
    T3 mid 07 65K £5600 actual

    Golf GT TDI 2.0 mid 05 90K £5100 actual
    Golf 1.9 tdi S younger 05 £ 4,750 92K actual
    Golf 1.9 tdi SE mid 05 £ 4,606 87K actual

You have to add on commission to those prices. I dunno but at a guess I'd say about £450 you'll have to phone your local BCA to find out exactly.

Gotta say I don't like the new style auctionview... :(
