    :D

The link is not working I'm afraid. I tried a search myself on the same site for newbuilds in Bromsgrove but none on Woodland Grange came up.

Do you know the Oakalls development in Bromsgrove? I've viewed a property there. The area seems very nice but the houses are sooooo close together. I think this development is relatively new. Am I right? Is this the norm for new developments now? Gives a whole new meaning to being close to your neighbours  Plus the whole thing is just HUGE. Too big for my liking really.

That's EXACTLY my view on the Oakalls. There seems to be thousands of houses there and whenever I've been there to view a house, I've always had to ask for directions and no-one ever knows where the road is. There was supposed to be a 'village centre' on the green bit on the main run through; built with shops and a nursery etc, but it never surfaced and they've even had the cheek to apply for PP to build more houses on it instead.

Search on B61 0UP and 1/2 mile surrounding and you should pull up a few in Woodland Grange - Tower Drive, Appletrees Crescent, Mallow Drive, mixed in with houses in the surrounding area of course. The developent is 3-4 years old, same as the Oakalls but smaller. Softer look to the houses too, not made of lego :o

Hi there, originally from Bromsgrove but now living in rural herefordshire!

    Bromsgrove over Redditch definately.
Avoid - Charford, Sidemoor, Catshill (middle of, but edges are ok).
There is a lovely village called Fairfield which is on the Stourbridge road out past Catshill towards the motorway and Hagley.
Best schools, yes Dodford is lovely. If you like there, have a drive round villages like Clent, Belbroughton and Chaddesley Corbett, they have lovely schools which feed into Haybridge High School in Hagley.
Best schools are in Hagley (head out of Bromsgrove towards Stourbridge), but again you have to pay to live there, but at least you can catch the train straight into B'ham.
My niece went to Meadows in bromsgrove and she is now at high school. Very good schools aswell, but if i had the choice i would send mine to Hagley, they have great results for the high school.
They have plenty of nurseries and a first school.

Good luck, hope you find somewhere lovely.

I've worked in Redditch for nearly twenty years and live in Stourbridge which is 20 miles away. I've never once felt the need to move to Redditch which probably says what I think of redditch as a place to live. Bromsgrove is far nicer than Redditch. There are lots of nice villages around the Bromsgrove/Stourbridge area but they do tend to be pricey.

BTW Stourbridge has excellent road and rail links and there are some nice areas there such as Pedmore and Norton.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

    Thanks everyone for your views.

Just as I've crossed Redditch off my list to concentrate my search on and around Bromsgrove, DH comes home from meeting a client in Bishop's Stortford and declares he's fallen in love.

Most of his clients come from around the London/Surrey area so I suppose it makes sense to consider moving to that area. We considered the Midlands because his business partner lives in Birmingham. They keep in contact by phone and email so it's not really essential that they live close together.

I did a quick search into Bishop's Stortford and it comes across as a very 'high end' place. DH and I are keen to improve ourselves and want to give the best opportunities to our toddler (the schools around that area seem to be very good) but I am worried that with the prices around London we're biting off more than we can chew.

 off to start another thread on Bishop's Stortford now.
