Creaking door noise!!??

Help.
When I go onto certain sites, I have a noise that sounds like a door creaking and then slamming!!!!!
It started just a couple of days ago, when I followed a link from this site to pigsback.com.
It was a link that I had used a thousand times before, with no such funny sound.
I have not done anything to the computer in the past few days that could have caused it and have done a virus check which didn't turn up anything.
It has happened as well on a couple of other sites as well.
Just would like to know what it is...if you can help!!

are you saying that your soundcard is picking up this sound or you feel its a problem with your system? check sounds in windows xp and see what options have been set for certain applications.press, start, control panel, sounds and audio devices, double click on that icon to bring up a set of tabs click on the sounds tab and set it to no sounds and see if it helps

I think it is a problem with the system.
When I used to click on the above mentioned link to pigsback, it would make a nice pop up sound and take you to a completed crossword.
It now makes this awful creaking sound and takes you to an uncompleted crossword!!

then go to start, bottom left, then click on control panel, then as I have posted above and set it to no sounds, click on apply once you have changed the setting

in that case check to see if the website you are refering too has sound options on the actual site, but the pop up noise you describe is a windows sound, and by clicking on no sounds it will stop
