I am a 37 yr old female, never had an accident in my 20 years of driving but have 3pts for speeding a couple of years ago. Up until 5 years ago I had full no claims, then left the NHS (nurse) for a job with a company car in the private sector. I then took a different job a year ago, again with a company car which I have recently left to go back into nursing.
I have bought myself a 2001 fiesta and am having trouble with swiftcover over insuring it. Initially they quoted me £202 for the year which I accepted and paid in full, they then have decided that they will not accept company car insurance as proof of no claims, therefore meaning the years of no claims I have built up are now meaningless.
After numerous emails back and forth, they have now said I have to pay an additional £320 making a total premium of £522 to insure my car, I can't afford to pay this in one go, I am at uni until dec doing a return to practice course so not earning currently. I asked them if I could pay the additional by monthly installments but they have said i can only pay it in full as I paid the initial £202 as one payment.
Because of this I asked them to cancel the policy refund the premium I have paid and I will take out a new policy and pay monthly. They will only refund me £131 of the £202 I have paid.
I have since done another insurance search with 0 no claims and swiftcover come up at £325 so I don't understand why they want £522 from me???, I have asked them but they can't give me an answer.
So my questions are:
Are swiftcover right to only refund me £131 out of the £202 I paid after being insured with them for a week?
Are there any insurers who will take my old company car insurance no claims into account for insuring my private car?
Why on earth is there a difference of almost £200 in what swiftcover want from me now, than if I took out a complete new policy?
can anyone offer any advice?

Elephant gave me full no claims when I bought my own car. No problems.
