Please help me choose my car!
Hi,
I have been looking through autotrader for a new car and just dont know where to start! Any ideas??
Budget = £6000-£7000
Must have 5 doors as baby on the way
Wont be used for commuting (commute on train)
Want something with a bit of power 2.0???
Also want something reliable
Also (bit of a strange one) want something with a nice interior as I dont like anything that looks plastic inside (wifes words not mine)
Also is autotrader the best website??

It depends if you want something sporty or sensible. Focus is always a good start, lots of engine choice and sporty 5 doors with a decent boot. My son has a 330 BMW his girlfriend has a 1.6 Focus, but whenever they go out together they are always in the Focus.
Zetec is a good spec, but the Mondeo is also a 'good middle of the road' choice in the same zetec spec.
I always use Autotrader, Piston heads and Ebay, but even if you use ebay, view the vehicle first, just like you would with a classified ad.

golf gt tdi, its a 2.0 diesel with 140bhp. great on fuel and quick.
brilliant car, and keeps its value well.0 -
Mondeo or Mazda 6 (see Honest John for his Mazda reviews), or Mazda 3 1.6 (very roomy, economic and nippy).0

If economy isn't too much of an issue, Lexus IS200 in a heartbeat. Nothing comes close on build quality (makes German output look like a Kia) it's absolutely breath taking once you work with them a bit and appreciate how much attention to detail there is on every part, it's quality and how it's assembled.
Not that powerful, or economical but a VERY nice place to be, infinate reliability and build quality also very safe, and has good Kudos without boasting you've got a 318 that's done spaceshuttle mileage, and is starting to rust a bit underneath.......
Otherwise, Mazda 6 or Mondeo as stated above. The Mondeo is an exceptional vehicle (all guises and ages) very well built, reliable and nice to drive, spectacular value and cheap to maintain. I'd pick it over the '6, but the 6 is very good looking, a very similar vehicle mechanically and offers even better value for money.
Something smaller, Focus, no question.

Another vote for a focus here too. If you want some power go for the 2.0 diesel, surprisingly quick and brilliant for overtaking/motorway driving. (50+ MPG too) Go for the Zetec, Ghia or Titanium spec and you'll usually get a nice interior and the terrific heated front windscreen.
Loads of used Focus around too so if you shop around you can get exactly what you want.
Generally good advice as above posters too.0
