I booked a holiday with Travel republic yesterday. They accepted payment at the advertised price. They have now emailed me to say the price of flights has gone up and they require a further £40. They have however booked the hotel and transfers. Can they do this ? Does this mean if I dont want the flights at the increased price I lose the rest of the money?

They are only a travel agent and not the flight provider. They do state that everything from the flight to hotel to transfers is a seperate booking mind..
Im not sure where you would stand on this - maybe the flight provider has put the price of the flight up for whatever reason - fuel surcharge , new taxes at your destination.
Best to email them and ask for a breakdown as to why your flight has gone up."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
It just seems so unfair. I dont think they should have booked the other parts of the holiday without asking if I wanted to go ahead with it. They are basically holding me to ransome. I feel my contract is with this company and it is thier responsibility to ensure prices are live at time of booking.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

the contract is with the company- call them and say you will not pay that. if they didnt inform you before the booking ,their problem-do you have confimation of booking- if so, state you will pay that, but not the rest, or money back.
their t and c's might say something in it about being allowed to raise the price if the other compaines do so.0 -
If they have already taken the payment, the contract has been made and therefore I would refuse to pay any more. That is the price I agreed to pay and therefore they either honour the deal, or give a full refund.
At the end of the day, if it had been theo ther way round, would they give you a refund?0 -

It does state that they will do so when you are planning your trip as each part is separate but will be booked at the same time.. Have you paid in full or was it just a deposit?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Hi teedy23, can you please give me a bit more information and I will find out what is going on. Unless it is very near to departure we should be able to help you get a full refund for all three bookings you have made with us.
I work for the company you mentioned but am a bit worried about getting banned if I say the name! If you are not sure I work for them, just say the airline or flight operator you have booked with and I will be able to find your booking.
Thanks Steve0 -
My clever and forceful daughter got it sorted by quoting sale of goods acts, and various other jargon. They managed to get the hol for the origional price. Thanks to all who replied. Just shows though if you dont shout up .....:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
