Scottish Power changing tariffs before supply starts
Hi,
I recently signed up tro Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 10, but on checking the progress of my application on the Scottish Power website, it states that I have signed up for the Online Energy Saver 11 tarriff, despite the fact that I applied on 30/07/2010 and Online Energy Saver 11 was only introduced on 6th September.
My question is, can Scottish Power do this, and if so, what can I do about it?

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem, (applying for Online Energy Saver 10, but being shown as on Online Energy Saver 11 on the Application Status Web Page).
I phoned Scottish Power and they told me that due to problems with their website, the information on there was showing incorrectly, and he assured me that in reality I was indeed on the correct Saver 10 tarrif.
Presumably the same applies to you0 -
If you were quoted on that tariff and the dates checkoue as you suggest you should be able to insist on having that tariff. Presumably you've checked it is beneficial to do so?Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0

In my area (Midlands) the price changes between v10 and v11 are one tenth of a penny for the first 225kWh units and the secondary rate is identical. In fact, it would probably suit me being on v11 as I'll get a few extra months before having to switch again.0

In my area (also Midlands), for my usage (16000kwh for gas and 4000kwh for electric per annum), Online Energy Saver 10 works out £47 per year cheaper than Online Energy Saver 11. So I'm more than happy to be on the former0

Hi Swipe, the figures you quote are for electricity only.
Don't you use any gas? .......or do you get gas and electric from different suppliers?
For gas, the first 670kwh are charged at the same rate on both v10 and v11, but all remaining kwhs are charged at 2.710p on v10 compared to 3.062p on v11 (an increase of 13% !)0 -

I have a different problem in that I thought I had switched last Wednesday 15th September. I did the switch through energy helpline but when I didn't receive any email I called them and emailed yesterday to see where I stood.
In fact after speaking to EHL and SP it seems my order has not gone through. I did all online and I am now wondering if I should call EHL and get them to do the switch or should attempt the switch again on line.
I was using EDH as they had a deal for £35 cash back from SP and also £15 cash back from them for switching. I have a £50 penalty to pay to Southern Electric and I was keen to have the cash back to help even things out for me.
What to do? I note today that the £35 is still on the EHL web page with the £35 still cash back with SP.
On SP web site this is not there.
Thanks for any advice
