British Gas Websaver 4 Tariff

30th November 2010 is the date websaver 4 converts to standard tariff. You have been able to switch penalty free since 28th February 2010:
http://www.energychoices.co.uk/british-gas-launches-websaver-4-20082009.htmlThe energy giant says dual fuel customers switching to the online tariff will see average savings of £134 compared to its standard price tariff, with discounts of at least 6% guaranteed until 30 November 2010.
...Customers will face a cancellation charge of £30 per fuel if they sign up for WebSaver 4 but switch energy tariffs before 28 February 2010.0 -

Call British gas, they will confirm this.
Hmm interesting, spoke to British Gas yesterday and they said no you're stuck until the 30th November or pay us £35....
May be worth speaking to a supervisor....
Though that article says dual fuel tarrif and we only have electric on that tarrif so not sure if that makes a difference...0 -

Makes no difference at all.
Anybody at BG that states there is a penalty involved in switching tarrifs is either lying (unlikely) or hasn't got a proper grasp of the Websaver 4 terms (far more likely).0 -

She did have to go and consult with someone as she didn't understand but the other person told her we were stuck and that we could pay the £35 to get out of it....
Will call when i get home later...0 -
What will happen if you wait until 30th November is that you will be stuck on an expensive standard tariff for 4-6 weeks while you are waiting to switch. Make sure they do not fob you off. Like I said, I was on Websaver 5 electric only and the end of my tie in period was 30th June 2010 so how can websaver 4 be longer than that?0

Well i thought it wasn't right and i did state that, but i'm going to call them tomorrow as it's got too late now.....
Just did a search and finally after a few searches found the terms and conditions and it definately states....
"If you cancel this agreement, either by moving to another gas or electricity supplier or by requesting to change your gas and/or electricity to another of our tariff(s) at any time prior to 28 February 2010 we may apply a cancellation charge (inclusive of any VAT that may be applicable). The cancellation charges are £30 (inc VAT) for electricity and £30 (inc VAT) for gas. This charge will not be applied if the agreement is cancelled due to a home move. "0 -
Well i jsut want to say thanks guys for all your help...
After a battle with British Gas worthy of taking on Goliath and quoting their terms and conditions at them and explaining that the word prior does not mean after, they have now admitted they we can leave and switch! :j
The lady did apologise at the end but frankly the very fact that you have to fight to speak to a manager or supervisor and even then i still wasn't allowed to speak to him/her is appalling...Why can't they come up with a service in this country where customer service is at least passable...:mad:0 -
I suppose one could make the argument that if they didn't have so many tariffs it would be easier for staff and customers to keep track of. But that would undermine thier whole approach which is based on confusion marketting :PMixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0

Well she did say they know more about the tarriffs than the managers...i replied well obviously they didn't otherwise i wouldn't have had the incorrect information earlier in the week. :rotfl:0
