house insurance claim for leak advice needed

my place was flooded by the property upstairs, damage to flooring carpets, lights sofa etc. i own the property and am concerned about loss assessor visit, what should i expect ? thanks

You should expect them to be polite and helpful! If they are not, you can complain to your insurer.
They should go through all the damage, assertain the exact cause, produce an inventory of damage and suggest how the claim will proceed - i.e. restoration or replacement of items (in some cases if the damage isn't too bad to things like a sofa or curtains, it is possible to restore the item), drying out etc.
Don't throw anything out, dig out receipts and proof of purchase. Take reasonable steps to minimise any further losses - i.e. start trying to dry things.
Is there also damage to the buildings? What cause the leak upstairs? Best to involve your block buildings insurer early on if there is any damage to the structure of the building (assuming this is not Scotland).0
