I am trying to setup a subdomain with Plesk 8.6.0 and its not working basically.
I go into and click Add Subdomain (call it test.domain .co.uk)
It seems to create some files on the system but when you try to go to the domain in the browser, nothing.
I have tried adding a cname but nothing again.
Can anyone please advice.

You're talking about two different things. I don't know Plesk, but after setting up a sub domain, you need to create a vhost in your Apache. Otherwise Apache doesn't accept connections to this subdomain and wouldn't know what to do with the request.
Another thought, are you talking about a server somewhere in the Internet or in you local LAN? If it's the latter, then you might need to change the settings in your local DNS.0 -
Its a server on the internet - hosted domain with own ip address.
I created the subdomain, the main domain dns settings has an A record set up for the subdomain pointing to the main IP address (if that makes sense).
i.e. subdomain / A / ip
There are folders auto created on the file system under /subomains/test/httpdocs.
What do I need to with vhosts exactly?0 -

/subomains/test/httpdocs seems to be the document root. Is there a index.html in it?
As I said I don't know Plesk and also don't know if it's supposed to automatically create a virtual host in your Apache configuration. Do you see a menu in Plesk for Apache and in there a configuration for vhosts (or virtual host)?0 -
Yeah there is a index.html in the httpdocs.
No mention of vhosts I can see in configuration.
There is access to file manager so I am trying to find where the file is for vhosts and what I need to put in it.0
