finding how much a car was worth in 2002

Hi there,

We are trying to find the rough price of a Ford Fiesta 1.11 LX 5DR (manual), 50,000 miles, bought in 2002. The condition wasn't great.

Could anyone tell me how I might go about finding the historical price for a car like this?

The 1.1 LX was probably a MK3 or possibly a later MK3.5. By 1995 the model names of the MK3.5 had changed as the MK4 was on sale, there was never a MK4 1.1.

So I am guessing this was made between 1989 and 1994. Lets asume it is one of the MK3.5s with the airbag and say it was an M reg, I would say in 2002 it would have been worth £1500 tops. Cars didn't hold their value as well back then as they do now.

A J reg car was worth £3895 in 1994, By 2002 in would have been into the free to good home to £750 ish range.

    Any particular reason??

it was an M reg to be specific.

I was curious to know how much was worth spending on someone's first car - - the ford was mine.

If the car is for a girl probably woth spending a bit more for to main reasons:-

    1. They tend not to bash them as much
    2. Safety ie more reliable

If it's for a boy the cheapest heap of junk that runs he will in all probability prang it.

Eight year old Fiestas seem to start at £900-1000 on autotrader now.

So I would guess that an eight year old one in 2002 would have been £ 500-600.
