could any one help my daughter wants to go to uni next year and as we are a middle income family we are not sure what we are able to claim if any think. She also wants to go to scotland to study so will this make a difference, we have tried to get to speak to a person but it all seems to be geared up to students who have appilied this year.

--- This is for this year, it won't change a lot next year.0 -
It may change, Lokolo. To my knowledge, The Student Support Regulations haven't been laid before parliament just yet for next year.
It probably won't, but I won't rule it out.0 -
Sadly, probably nothingLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0

My son has just started uni and we are in the same situation as you. My son gets his fees paid because he is studying in Scotland however he gets nothing else.0

Sadly, probably nothing
Eh? what are you basing this on?
She could get the tuition fees loan, and the basic maintenance loan, as well as possibly a bit of means tested loan and grant (depending on parents income).
So she should actually get quite a bit, unless they radically change the system this year.
Edit: you say she wants to GO to Scotland; do you mean you are currently in England and she wants to study in Scotland, or are you already living in Scotland?0 -

This http://www.studentfinance.direct.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=153,4680136&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
is a calculator which should tell you exactly what your son will be entitled to (again it is for 2010/11 but figures for next year aren't out yet).
Depending on where/what he wants to study, he might be eligible for additional support from the University - the website should have details.0
