Hi guys,
I signed up for email alerts about this service after seeing a programme on TV about this - you watch random CCTV cameras, and if you spot a crime being committed and report it, you can get up to £1000.
I think it's legit, would be interesting to see what people's experiences of it are.
The website is:
http://interneteyes.co.uk/
You have to subscribe to join, but it's only about £1 a month.

So you pay £1 per month and only get paid £1k If "A reward of £1000 pounds per month for
the Viewer who has made the best contribution to the prevention or detection of a crime."
so its viewer, I assume its only one person who made the best contributionSo that wording is some what different to "if you spot a crime being committed and report it, you can get up to £1000"
Note the word "up to"
So you pay £1 a month for privilege and use your own bandwidth, video eats bandwidth0 -
Heres the payplan etc for what its worth.

But read this before you join

The web site states its £1 per month yet the link ypaymore kindly provides says
- Annual £12.99 discounted saving of 45.6%
- Quarterly £4.99 discounted saving of 16.4%
- Monthly £1.99 standard
So the cheapest membership is annual at £1.08 per month (12.99 annual)
Why on Earth do you have to pay to look at video in the hope you catch a thief, do they take people for mugs?
I suspect the fee may help towards setting costs for the site and possibly self funding0 -
The concept has raised a number of questions over data protection and privacy

That spyblog says
"Contrary to most of the media and blog headlines about this scheme, which falsely report that the public is somehow going to be paid to watch these CCTV feeds, it turns out that Internet Eyes are not actually planning to pay people to snoop at all. Instead they are only offering them the vague hope of winning a monthly prize."

I've not signed up - thought it looked interesting though.
Most of the news articles are over a year old, and Internet Eyes seem to have changed their approach slightly since then - i.e. no "email alerts".
A more recent article about it is here: http://www.getwokingham.co.uk/news/s/2078632_store_deploys_web_snoops_to_monitor_cctv0 -

So we now know the trial sites are Alworths.
Despite the fact that they say on their site
"No details of the location of the premises of our customers are provided to Viewers "

Another thing you only get five credits to report things. Say you used them up. What happens then if you spot a serious incident ?0 -
