Has anybody any ideas how to restre my preserving pan.
I made plum chutney (free plums!) and managed to weld half of it to the pan.
I've tried extra strong oven cleaner and carbon remover, but there is still a lot of black bits stuck to the base.
I really need you guys as a new pan is about £50/60.
This is my first go on this web site, which I lurve, so please come up trumps for me!

try soaking it overnight in a fairly strong solution of washing powder. I find this does the trick with most burnt on stuff0

Try putting some ordinary washing powder in the pan and some water to cover.
Leave to soak for a couple of days and then try giving it a good scour.
I find that works.....eventually. And I too have welded many things to many pans:rotfl: :rotfl: :rolleyes:
It might take a few days but you will eventually get your pan back. I have a set of pans that have had more black on them than I care to mention, but 10 years on I manage to get them back to shiny again.0 -

I cremated some soda bread on a brand new frying pan recently - all the scrubbing in the world wouldn't have got the black off it.
Someone - sorry, can't remember who - suggested recently filling a burnt to cinders pan with water and chucking in some dishwasher detergent, then boiling it on the hob for about 20-30 minutes. I did this...and it worked! I did have to give it another bit of a scrub, but it is clean again.0 -

I agree with Snowyowl, try boiling some washing powder and water for half an hour, and then give it another scrub!!!!0
