No different than price surveys for anything else really. Why would you rush out and buy tins of beans today when the surveys reported special offers starting next week?

Because you want to break the world record for sitting in a bath of baked beans.
    Because you fancy some beans?

Your argument miss out necessity, yes beans may be advertised as cheaper next week, that does not mean beans everywhere are more expensive this week.

If you were desperate to get beans at a price point you could do it this week I bet. Depends on your necessity, what happens next week and they have sold out?
Two weeks later and still no beans. :)

From asking prices are useless, don't mean anything, to discussing baked beans and whether you can rent a tin, in response to why they don't matter.

Me thinks asking prices DO matter ;):D

    These are my target prices:

    2 bed terrace = £80k
    3Bed Semi = £100k
    4 Bed detatched = £140k

Averages for the UK of course, some areas more some less but overall the average house price for the UK of around 100k is when I will buy again. These numbers represen a 1% fall each month for 3 years which is happening now. Obviously if inflation takes off then I will revise the numbers but as long as wage inflation stays low then these are the prices I will be guided by.

More chance of hell freezing over,by your own admission you sold in 06,you'll probably buy back in at 06 prices.

The only thing that has changed is peoples' perception, not their bottom line.

The only thing that matters is the sale price.

    Reality is what matters.

Fallig asking prices will translate into lower sale prices.

All points to the stabilisation of the market I have personally been predicting on here for months now. There has NEVER been a better time for FTBers to jump on the ladder before prices accelerate.

Askings prices do have some relevance as it is the maximum people will pay for the property. People will always offer less but rarely offer more.

Complete and utter nonsense. Never heard of Offers Over, Sealed Bids, etc.. ?

The fact these HPC ghouls can't face is that while prices plateau they will never crash.

Many, many more offers are below asking price than above.

Whether prices can crash or not depends on the definition of crash. But they can certainly fall and have done in the past.

Offers over is just a pricing trick, and sealed bids is more common in a seller's market. Which doesn't appear to be what we have now.

Offers over and sealed bids work well in Scotland in my experience.
