  • When we went to hell and back earlier in the year, we couldnt claim anywhere near £81.55... Wheres that figure from?

We had to battle like mad to get just over £50... and as said.. That was a battle and a half ! How degrading is it going to the job centre every two weeks to be 'intervoewed'.. whilst outside the scum are all there drinking cheap cider and eating pies waiting for their fortnightly appointment....

Also the government have othing to do with an IPA, its money to creditors. That said, if your oin benefits, its highly likley there is nothing left out of expenses to pay an IPA anyhows...

I get the basic £59.xx per week Incapacity Benefit. The letter that came with the Income Support entitlement has the blosh about "the Government decreed that the basic amount you must have to live on is £81.xx" and that is how the Income Support is worked out.

I don't go to the Job Centre every two weeks because I am on Incapacity Benefit. I did have to present myself to see if they could find a way to send me back to work, though! We all have to suffer for the scammers in the world, unfortunately.

I would suspect that, for most ordinary folk, the IPA money never gets to any of the creditors, it will all be swallowed up in "fees" - so that goes to the Government!

I am in a lump sum IVA, I didn't go bankrupt, so this doesn't apply to me anyway.

Scoot, I live in my Mother's house. I am on the basic Incapacity Benefit and Income Support of £81.xx per week. That is it, that is the sum total of my allowances.

I have had to get rid of my mobile phone, reduce my landline to the basic, my internet is wireless to my Mum's. Other than that, I pay for food and to go swimming - which I have to do for my medical condition. That is it. No spare money for anything.

I get DLA which is taken to pay for my car. If it wasn't for the DLA and Motability I would not be able to afford to have a car at all, so I am blessed in that respect, although I would be allowed the DLA even if I was working.

I am sure that some people can work the system to get more money particularly if they have children.
I think you've hit the nail on the head as how else could that friend of mine be on that much? I can tell you he is in the pub EVERY afternoon and four, sometimes, five evenings a week and when he is not out he drinks two bottles of wine in the flat. That wouldn't come cheap.

Our Wetherspoons put their prices up recently so it's not that much cheaper than other places now (£2 for lager). What I mean is that if you did it every day it wouldn't be cheap.

Ironically, the person getting the benefits is supposed to have arthritis of the spine and be suffering depression. Now, call me old-fashioned but I don't think someone going off to the pub every day is showing those signs. He makes such a song and dance about "not being able to work again". Give me a break. There are loads of disabled people out there working with a lot bigger disablement than him. He makes me sick

Thanks... Very festive I might say !

Ooh nasty. I'm lucky we always get those days off. Are you a nurse or something like that then?
