Other peoples letters

Not sure if this is the right place to post, so apologies for that.
On the 15th, I received 6 letters. All to my address but to an unknown name. 5 were from home insurance companies, Virgin Money, More Than etc. And one from Greenflag.
The odd thing was they all had my address, postcode and even my landline number. The insurance letters were talking about insuring a 2 bedroom house (this is a 3 bed). The greenflag has VRN details, make of car etc and some of the insurance papers had bank account/sort codes on (which are not mine). My question is, what do I do?
Just ignore them?
Can all this come back to haunt me? Since alot of letters are talking about getting payment tomorrow, if this person does not pay his bills, I will be sent the letters and get the phonecalls.
Any ideas?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Sounds like someone has just moved in somewhere - are you aware of any roads nearby that are similar e.g same name but only street or drive differentiating it ?

Are there any new builds nearby that could be similar?

I personally wouldn't worry about them, just put them back in the postbox not known at this address

I'd return them not known at this address. It could be the beginnings of some kind of ID fraud or else someone is launching a junk mail vendetta against you?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • I also think its an ID issue. I could understand as go cat said, someone has moved in new houses locally. However, they also have my home number down as well. Very suspicious. I just hope that this can't effect me or my credit score in any way.

If they've not got your name on, they can't affect your credit rating.
  • Ok, thanks for the info. Just making sure.
Seems very odd to get these letters. What would someone have to gain by setting up multiple home insurance policies with my address and telephone number?

Virgin Money are quite happy for you to ring them and let them know you are receiving someone else's mail and they allowed me to open it so I could track down the previous occupants account number to sort it out.

I don't know about the others but I sent most back as addressee not known at this address. I only contacting Virgin because I didn't stop getting mail from them.
  • Some people when they want a quote for insurance online but don't want to be bothered with letters and phone calls fill out someone elses details.

Do you know if a friend or relative is looking for insurance quotes online?
