Pre Paid Gas Meter Question
I've just moved into a flat with a pre paid gas meter (one where you put pound coins in, rather than put credit on a card), and I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm probably being really dim, but how can I tell how much credit I have left? There are a few dials which might tell me, but I'm not sure. There's a circle with a dial in it, which has a 2 at the top and a 1 at the bottom, and an arrow going from the 2 to the 1. Then there's a dial which has markings like 100, 200, 300 etc, and a red line showing where on the dial we are. At one side of that it says "pre paid", and it also says something at the other side, but I can't quite tell what. There are also numbers in a circle round where we put the coins in, going from 24 to 576, and it says "cubic feet per £1".
Can anybody help me out?!

This meter must belong to your landlord and is not the meter the property will be billed using by the gas supplier. Cant tell how to read it but you need to ensure he is not charging you more for your gas than he is paying for it as this is illegal. He is allowed a small admin charge I believe.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
