Parking for University of Sussex

Hi, can anyone give me any help re parking for the University of Sussex, Falmer near Brighton. We're going to their Open Day in October but they have informed us that there is no parking available on campus and that we should park in Brighton or Lewes and take a bus. I've checked the NCP parking charges and they are exhorbitant! Anyone know of any park-n-ride schemes or even better somewhere we could park for free either near the university or on the bus route? I'm grateful for any suggestions.

There is parking available on the Sussex campus, but it is limited. If the open day is on a weekday during term time, then it will invariably be full of students' cars and you will have zero chance of getting a space.

The best advice is to park in the street around either Moulsecoomb or London Road railway stations and get the train to Falmer. It's about 2 minutes walk from Falmer station to Sussex campus and the route is very obvious. London Road station is probably easier to find if you don't know Brighton very well (assuming you're coming down the A23). Don't go to Lewes: there is virtually no parking and the streets are regularly patrolled by wardens.

Thanks Cardelia, that's really helpful. The open day is on a Saturday but the University had already informed us that all parking on the campus had been allocated. We shall take your advice. Thanks again!
