Buses to/from wedding reception

I am assuming that I should arrange for a coach (or perhaps 2 coaches) to transport guests from our marriage ceremony to our wedding reception (they are about 8 miles apart).
How much should I expect to pay?
Can anyone recommend a good coach hire company in the Glasgow area?
Thank you!

My dad and his friends all use Fairline coaches for all their golf outings, they have used them for years.
I will also be using them for our wedding too.
Im in Clydebank but Fairline are based in Springburn think it might be charles st.
£400 for a 51 seater roughly, thats going by what my dad can remember lol so might not be exactGot Married 16/09/11 :j0 -
We had coaches for the guests at my sister's wedding as the reception venue was about 40 minutes from the church. I think it was about £350 for the two, although that was in Lancashire, and I'm not sure if it's distance dependent either."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

Wow, I hadn't realised coaches would be so expensive! Mind you my reception was 3mins walk from the registry office.
OP - if you are on a budget, and can't afford coaches don't feel guilty.
A few years ago I went to my OH uncles wedding in London. Ceremony was in one place, then meal in a restaurant somewhere else, then back to their place for drinks. We caught a bus to the ceremony, a lift to the meal and a bus to their place for drinks, most other people did similar or shared taxis.
People will only expect transport if you apologise for there not being any. Don't mention it, or simply tell them what the public transport options or local taxi numbers are, and probably they will just arrange their own transport and not think anything of it.0 -
The wedding and reception are 8 miles apart?? I wouldn't be expecting to be transported between the two.Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0

How are people getting to the ceremony?...surely if you take them on to the place of reception by bus they will need transport back to pick up their cars that they drove to the ceremony in?
Im not sure in my opinion that You need to put on transport..you are organising your wedding how your guests get there is their responsibiliy....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I think it may be a regional thing. Most weddings I've been too there has been transport.
My cousin recently got married (I wasn't there, my mother was) and spent about 20k on the wedding and all anybody talked about was the lack of bus from the church to the hotel
I'm all in the one venue but if I wasn't we would defo have put a coach on.0 -
I've only been to one wedding that had transport and that was at the end of the evening to take us back to the hotel (it was a barn wedding). I wouldn't expect anyone to put on transport, in fact in my family there's always been a convoy of cars going from the church to the reception.0

maybe it is a regional thing. We were trying to think the other night and most weddings we have been to if the ceremony and reception are in different places transport has been provided. Its just a lot of money that could be spent on something else!
You are right LEJC, people will have to get to the ceremony from their homes so the bus would only be a bit of the journey. I hadn't thought of that.
I'm not sure if I was going to a wedding I would notice if their wasn't transport..0
