Again,try shelter or the CAB at the very least. Shelter usually have drop in sessions on a monday,gather up all your paperwork and the letter regarding the repossession. Are you renting through an agent or is there no agent involved?

It's hardly a glitch in finances of LL to get as far as a possession hearing. Like Jowo and others have said please do get in touch with CAB and Shelter as soon as you can. It would also be a good idea to turn up at the hearing so that the mortgage company know who you are. Take any paperwork relating to your tenancy with you. It could be possible that the receivers/mortgage company could take over your tenancy at least until the end of any fixed term. Offer to pay your rent directly to the receivers/mortgage company.

I think I will try and give them a call from work tomorrow, we're renting privately and not through an agent.0 -

Sounds like your landlord isn't paying the rent and the banks are repossessing the property with a hearing next week. I'd be very careful about not paying rent, you could put it into a bank account just in case you do need to pay it later. But you do need to seek urgent advice from shelter or CAB.

agree with Brb,shelter will also be able to advise,realistically,how long you may have between the bank gaining the property to you moving out,aswell as clarify any deposit issues there may be. If you google who the deposit is protected with, there is usually a link on the website that can tell you when the deposit was protected. OP,dont feel you have done anything wrong,there is lots of support out there for you.

Hi,
I have just received a possession notice informing me that my landlord has a hearing for a possession order next month.
Does anyone know what this will mean for us? How long can we legally stay in the property? Can I stop paying rent as I'm pretty sure we wont be getting the deposit back now?

If the notice was addressed to the occupier, then it is likely that the landlord had a BTL mortgage, or at least consent to let. In this case, according to some posters on here, the lender must acknowledge your tenancy and you will probably be allowed to remain in the property until the end of the fixed term or until the lender gives you notice for a periodic tenancy.
Not paying your rent could lead to the lender evicting you.
In all likelihood the lender will appoint a receiver to act for them, effectively being your landlord.
I would contact the lender and let them know you are in the property and forward a copy of your tenancy agreement.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. good luck with this, but I would start looking for a new home sharpish. This happened to me earlier this year - my landlord did not have the mortgage in place to rent the flat out, he was months behind with paying it, yet was happily accepting my rent every month.
