Many thanks to Laurier for responding to questions on here. As all organisations are only given permission to post in specific circumstances now we've asked Laurier not to post again. If they feel a statement needs to be made one of the MSE Team will do that once only but Laurier has already given a substantial reply. If you have further questions specifically for them please do follow the contact route Laurier has described on the Dogs Trust website.

    Andrea :)

A reply which is no doubt worded by a heavily paid Public Relations person and while containing fact was also very non-specific. I mean Laurier's reply not the MSE insert.

i would imagine a substantial amount is paid to have rehomed pets neutered, we got a puppy from a re-homing centre and got a voucher to help with the cost we paid £30 and the dogs trust paid the rest in our case £107 .

For the doubters amongst you: Do The Maths!

£4 raised for every £1 spent on fundraising.

So yes, the chuggers are getting paid, but so what? The Dogs Trust still end up with more money than they would have done if they didn't employ the chuggers!

I wasnt complaining about chuggers getting paid. Of course they get paid, what people complain about is the marketing organisations that employ the chuggers getting sums of between £60 and £120 for every direct debit, which means that some one who donates at £8 a month, its taking 12 months for their donation to actually be worth anything.

When I signed up I was led to believe that all of my money went to do some good...I was Not told that they paid fundraisers around £120 for getting me to sign up. So my money wasn't actually going to help save and care for dogs it went into the hands of fundraisers.
When you sign up the Charity is down around £120, it takes around 18 months of payments for them to actually benefit from the payments. Its only after 12-18 months they begin to see the benefit from my money.

The public are not told of this and thats wrong. They should be told and then make their own choice whether or not to sign up.

I would also question whether raising £4 for every £1 spent is value for money

But the charity ends up with more money than it starts with!

If I could invest my savings for such a good return I'd be very happy.

I agree, a donor should be informed, but by highlighting this a charity would be shooting it's self in the foot - people won't donate.

In an ideal world everyone would freely donate online and cut out the chugger-middleman. But whilst the public don't donate unless prompted to do so by the chugger........ I fear they are a necessary evil.
