Hi
I'm looking for a webcam. I want something reasonable, but don't want to spend a lot. My laptop won't last forever and I'll likely get a built in webcam when I replace it. I need one to talk to family abroad.
I've been looking at the Logitech C160 on ebuyer. Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gwen

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

I have 2 Microsoft Lifecams, a good loud microphone is built in so only 1 wire, no need to connect the mic to another place on the computer. Also seems better than built in mics on laptops. Search Ebay for Lifecam there it should be be around half the rrp.0

Logitech is a tried and trusted name in webcams so you wouldn't go wrong opting for the C160 you mentioned.
However, as an alternative, and costing the same price, there's always this Nexos 4Mp cam that has been well reviewed and rated positively. Even reviews on other sites rate it as unbelievable quality and value for money. And, yes it does include a built in microphone.
I'm thinking of ordering one for use with my desktop.0 -
Rock solid over all the years, drivers work on 64bit straight out of the box, Microsoft LifeCam series.
- older models like the Microsoft LifeCam NX-3000 are about £30 here - or - £15 delivered hereDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. The Nexos is the first one with LED lights I've seen a good review of. Reason I went for Lifecams in the past has been, guaranteed driver support going forward (as it's MS). My loft contains the usb thingamajigs that I can no longer get to work due to driver issues - must have a clear out!0

Update: Yesterday I was trying to have a Skype call with someone who bought a cheapo generic unbranded webcam. Sound from their end was loud but strangled sounding and barely intelligible - it relied on the mic built into the Webcam. So if you plan to make a lot of webcam or phone calls on the cam microphone, maybe best to get a big name one eg Logitech or Microsoft.0
