2nd hand car from dealer incorrect info

Hi all.

I've bought a 1995 Toyota RAV4 2.0ltr 5dr from a local dealer for £1200. It was advertised on Autotrader. After reviewing various models and stats etc this one was shown on the 'performance and economy' tab on the autotrader site as fuel economy.

urban 22.6
extra urban 36.7
combined 31.2

These figures were the deciding factor in me purchasing the car.

It turns out after having used it over the weekend, these figure are for the diesel model. I am typically getting around 20-25mpg after mostly extra urban 40-60mph roads. I've done 115 miles on £30 and the tank is no on empty. I don't drive fast or have a lead foot. I'm all about economy but justified a 4x4 for business use as a Photographer and Joiner. I also own a diesel Vectra.

It was aslo advertised as having a passenger airbag and ABS but admittedly was only concerned with the condition and running of the vehicle upon viewing and test driving so missed that these things are not present.

Question is?

Can i return it asking for a full refund as not as advertised? Or is it an Autotrader issue?

Thanks

The 95 RAV4 was only available as a petrol, they didn't make a diesel. Those fuel economy figures are for the petrol. A 15 year old car is never going to get close to the official figures produced from a perfect brand-new lab-condition RAV4 15 years ago.

Those numbers might be the figures for the 3 door versio, you've got the much heavier 5 door.

I'd expect you to get 25mpg on average, 20 pootling around and maybe 30mog if you drive like a monk on longer journies.

Its an Autotrader issue. And they give this warning:
    Please note
The data displayed above details the usual specification of the most recent model of this vehicle. It is not the exact data for the actual vehicle being offered for sale and data for older models may vary slightly. We recommend that you always check the details with the seller prior to purchase. * Fitted as standard

They have covered their back on that one.

As for the ABS and passenger airbag I can't see these items being significant enough to consider a full refund.
