There was a case in our local paper recently where a man was taken to court over a 42p debt to the council. He let them do it purely for the comedy publicity."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,
God for a man who solicits insurance..." - Dorothy Parker0 -

Why is a person that handles your money called a broker?!0 -
My council have even admitted to me they don't understand their new system and that a lot of mistakes are being made, you should see the statements we get about our payments they make absolutely no sense!-not even to them!official dfw nerd club member no 214

Just to add that I know that we pay for more than getting our bins collected (£124 a month for me), but at a hair salon I used to work in there was a woman who worked for the council and she would be in 2 to 3 times a week getting her hair done and paying with "council" cheque book!?!0

Money mare... thats all very well BUT I did pay my bill on time - i always pay before the beginning of the month - and they 'found' my payment on their system AFTER sending me out a rude reminder letter and admitted i had paid it on time (before it was due even)- so somewhere, whether its just my councils system or everywhere, somewhere its not being checked properly!!Joined September 2006: £18800.00 in debt:eek:

Not at all - phrased totally correctly - it just shows the irony of the English language:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
