Being a guarantor for a family memeber for a rented flat

this has turned into a very informative discussion. Very glad I started it.
It seems BIL/GF are still able to get the flat, as long as they pay 6 months up front, which is a push for them but they can just about do it as their student loans have just come through.
Although I think my saying no to being guarantor has been justified already, because they thought they couldn't get the flat they decided to buy a car instead:eek: with their student loan money presumably:eek:0 -
