youngmummy - Hello and welcome - I was new to this just two weeks ago. I think most people are just including personal spending money - I include gifts, entertainment, clothes and random things I buy into mine. But I think the idea is you can do it how ever you want. So you might have a seperate budget for clothes or gifts for example outside of personal spending money.

I have found it really useful to track all those spends that aren't included somewhere else in the budget. I also do the grocery spending challenge monthly on the Debt free wannabee board.

Forgot to add: I spent £2.65 yesterday posting a packet to the US.

Of course you can join just let us know what amount you are pledging and I will add you.

You can decide what to include. Most people just count incidental spends but if you find it easier you can include groceries and bills.

  • Yesterday I went to a botanical garden on a trip with work. I spent £2.49 on coffee and £2.50 on banana palm seeds.

Under Ms_london's advice I put some things on ebay - and they have sold! so I will put the profit up when they pay (profit after paypal and ebay fees - found a calculator online that tells me what it is). I have been thinking of setting myself a goal of putting one thing on ebay a week. I can't see myself ever being a serious seller but it would be a good way of getting rid of clutter and earning a few pounds here and there.
