Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.action-smiley-033.gif

  • Afternoon Budgeteers

I was red last week due to spending more on dinner out than expected. It is payday on Friday so I am going for £32 until Thursday night as I need to sort out my budget for next month and I have lots of stuff to stock up on come Friday.

I have updated the first post with results and pledges. Let me know if there are more to add and I will update.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Can I try for £10 this week? I am really pleased with how motivated this thread is making me - so thank you everyone! I think it is making me plan ahead better too - when I have to decide what I am going to budget for the week I can think "this week will be easier than next week etc so I should budget less". Can't believe I didn't do it before really!

I found a piggy bank in the spare room and put a £1 in it from the money for last weeks and the week befores leftovers. Not sure what I am saving up for yet. Part of me thinks it needs to be something that would come out of personal spending (or I won't have any incentive to save) but that I don't normally have enough for. Like a flight to visit my friends who live abroad.

Hi Pointy, actually managed to stay in budget this week, spending only £7 on myself, I only have £1 in my purse until Friday, so I'm going to have to go with that, I believe that will be my dress down money on Friday, so its four no spend days planned fo me now!
    Have a great week all.
